Public Safety and Emergency Services

WorkPlace Resources began as an Employee Assistance provider with a specialty in high risk, high stress occupations such as Fire and Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, and Law Enforcement.

We have grown to serve as EAP for heavy industry, healthcare organizations, social service organizations, and municipalities.

WORKPLACE RESOURCES currently numbers well over 1600 uniformed personnel among its clients.  In addition to our regular services, we offer post trauma, post shooting, line-of-duty death, and on-scene intervention services, as well as the full range of critical incident stress management programs.  We can do Fitness For Duty evaluations, if needed.  All of our counselors have police and fire ride-along time.  We also serve as the psychological consultants to the Toledo Police Department Special Enforcement Division, The Lucas County Critical Incident Response Team, and the Sylvania Township Special Response Team.  We have assisted with criminal profiling and witness/suspect interviewing in some instances.

WORKPLACE RESOURCES helped to design disaster and tactical training scenarios for multi-agency responses.  We also offer D.O.J. approved “Emergency Response to Terrorism:  Basic Concepts” training for fire, police, and EMS personnel, and a course for newly appointed sergeants/officers/supervisors in counseling, coaching, and evaluation.

WORKPLACE RESOURCES staff holds memberships in the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, The American Academy of Police Psychology, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

WORKPLACE RESOURCES counselors have taught at the University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University, The State Fire School, Criminal Justice Technical Education Center, Citizens’ Police Academies, and been invited to speak at a multitude of state, regional, national and international conferences.
